Abstract

In many specialities, Ukrainian Language for Professional Purposes remains the only linguistic discipline whose content requires organic combination of the linguistic and professional speech vectors of preparation. At the same time, professional speech has its specificity in different spheres of activity, which should be considered in the process of training of students. There arises a need for professional adaptation of the content of the core textbooks and manuals to the requirements of the corresponding field of knowledge. The aim of the article is determination of the conceptual bases of professional adaptation of Ukrainian Language for Professional Purposes at pedagogical institutions of higher education.
On the basis of generalisation of the essence of the definitions available in the scientific space, a definition of the concept of “professional adaptation of the Ukrainian Language for Professional Purposes academic discipline” has been proposed. For the purpose of determination of the main approaches that are used by authors of educational and methodical works on professional adaptation of the course, there has been conducted an analysis of the educational and methodical support not only for the pedagogical, but also for other branches of knowledge. Such extension of the field of scientific research is caused by the necessity of clarification of all possible options for solving the problem by drawing analogies and considering the determined competences. The author emphasizes the low level of use of the elements of professional adaptation, which are aimed at creation of professional discourse, in the content of textbooks and manuals.
Professional adaptation of teaching the Ukrainian Language for Professional Purposes course is determined, first of all, by the material based on which the study of certain topics is conducted. This material is the main means of professional adaptation of the discipline. As the Ukrainian language is the main tool for the professional activity of a pedagogue, the level of mastering this instrument plays the role of an indicator of general professional preparation of a teacher, educator or social sphere worker. On
the basis of research into all available educational and methodical sources concerning the Ukrainian Language for Professional Purposes course, the conceptual bases of professional adaptation of the academic discipline have been determined.
