Abstract

The article describes the problem of realization of the competence approach in school literary education, which is one of the main directions of its development. It is noted that with the adoption of the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education, the problem of rethinking the content of education, creating new programs and textbooks has become relevant. It is noted that there are no specially developed programs and textbooks on Ukrainian literature for 5th-9th forms of general secondary educational institutions wherein teaching and studying is held in languages of national minorities; the subject is taught according to the educational and methodological instruments developed for educational institutions wherein teaching and studying is performed in Ukrainian. It is emphasized that the general secondary educational institutions wherein teaching and studying is held in languages of national minorities, especially in 5th form, special programs and textbooks, which would consider the peculiarities of their native language and their previous studying experience, should be used. Moreover, it is noted that when developing a textbook, the principle of communicative orientation of education and positive motivation of the educational process should be considered. An important role in competence-oriented education is played by the development of the methodological apparatus of the textbook and its focus on the formation and development of pupil’s reading skills.
The article highlights the peculiarities of realization of the competence approach in textbook on Ukrainian literature for 5th form of general secondary educational institutions wherein teaching and studying is held in languages of national minorities, which consists in rethinking of the method of presenting educational material related to literary theory, biographical information of writers whose works are studied, system of questions and tasks, illustrative material of the textbook, etc. There are given examples of the competence-oriented tasks, which may be included to the textbook on Ukrainian literature for 5th form of general secondary educational institutions wherein teaching and studying is held in languages of national minorities. Suggestions are made for the authors to what they should pay attention to when creating a competence-oriented textbook on Ukrainian literature for 5th form. It is concluded that their observance will contribute to the achievement of the goal of the language and literature education defined in the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education.
