Abstract

The paper analyzes didactic potential of modern Ukrainian literature textbooks for the 10th grade in the context of formation of a scientific picture of the world and an image of the world of pupils. The concepts “scientific picture of the world” and “image of the world” are considered according to the researches of domestic and foreigh scholars. The scientific picture of the world of pupils is the system of knowledge about the world which is based on its general regularities. The image of the world of pupils is holistic and personally significant system of conceptions of the world. When the scientific picture of the world is generally formed by studying of sciences, the leading role in formation of an image of the world belongs to studying of literature. The meaning of the concept “image of the world” in the State standard of basic and complete general secondary education is found out. This document assumes its national content. Theoretical and practical components of the Ukrainian literature textbooks for the 10th grade (standard level) in the context of their compliance to requirements of the State standard of education and also compliance of their training material to scientific level of modern literary studies are analysed. It is defined the way these textbooks represent contemporary scientific vision of Ukrainian literature and a national image of the world. The national image of the world is introduced to pupils not only through the analysis of concrete literary works, but also through intersubject communications (in particular, with history), a context of national art, the system of tasks aimed to consider such elements of a national image of the world as biographies of outstanding cultural figures, national character, language, national traditions and values. The vehicles of representation of the scientific picture of the world and the national image of the world in the Ukrainian literature textbooks are discussed.
