Abstract

The article actualizes the problem of formation of information literacy of students as a component of elements of educational material of electronic textbooks, in the process of designing educational-­developmental environment of gymnasium and digitalization of society. Modern tendencies of the phenomenon of digitalization of society and problems of introduction of information and media literacy as elements of educational material of electronic textbooks are analyzed. Emphasis is placed on the expediency of considering modern traditional and electronic textbooks as a teaching tool that performs such basic functions as self-educational, information-­cognitive, research and practical, aimed at the formation and self-development of personality. It is clarified that the concept of “digitalization of education” is much broader in scope and content than the simple “introduction of modern information and communication technologies in the educational process”, and media literacy is a necessary skill for the modern individual. The definitions of such concepts as “media literacy”, “digitalization”, “information literacy and culture” are given. Attention is focused on the importance of increasing the role of traditional school books and electronic textbooks for personal self-development, the formation of information culture and media literacy of students. It is emphasized that the modern traditional and electronic textbook occupies an important place in the formation of information literacy of high school students and personal self-development.
