Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of textbooks on the history of Ukraine for the 8th form of general education institutions from the viewpoint of implementation of the religious component, which serves as an integral part of the formation of competence "Awareness and self-expression in the field of culture". The texts are considered from the standpoint of covering issues of Islam, Judaism, everyday manifestations of religion, in those points that are not represented by exact program requirements, but are necessary in terms of the formation of a coherent historical picture of the world. Axiological load is extremely important, because it forms the attitude to the adjacent by thematic content modern events. The conducted research has shown that the exposition of the religion-related component is Christian-centric, but compared with previous textbooks - much more balanced, rich terminologically, documentary, and visually. Other religious movements are practically out of sight (several references to Muslims in the context of the Crimean Khanate population (including intellectual and cultural-artistic achievements); Jews - extremely briefly in the lists). In addition, there is a tendency towards the formation of associative axiological links "Muslim-enemy", "Pole-Catholic-enemy", which is currently unacceptable. Accordingly, textbooks on the history of Ukraine issued in 2016 have significant improvements in the religious component, but require high-quality methodological support for levelling dangerous tendencies in reporting / ignoring information about non-Christian religions.
