WORK ON ENRICHING THE VOCABULARY OF STUDENTS IN UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE TEXTBOOKS FOR 8-TH FORM

Abstract

The article highlights the features of work on enriching and activating the vocabulary of students in a competently directed textbook on the Ukrainian language for the 8th form (authors V. Novoselovа, N. Bondarenko). The system of exercises and tasks aimed at achieving the final results is analyzed: the expansion of the vocabulary of students and the activation of new words in their speech. Attention is focused on the importance of taking into account the text-centric approach, the expediency of compiling texts, sentences, word combinations using new words. Methodical recommendations on the work on enriching the vocabulary of students in the lessons of syntax and punctuation in the 8th form are given. The author emphasizes the fact that the level of formation of skills to use new words in the process of creating written statements depends on the formation of skills to interpret the lexical meaning of the word; development of attention to unfamiliar words; orientation in the speech situation; definition of the sphere and function of the use of words in the text; awareness of their text-making functions; observance of lexical norms in the process of using lexical means. The theoretical positions are illustrated by examples of practical tasks.
