Abstract

The article specifies the leading design principles of geography textbook aimed at forming the core geographical competence of students. The paper identified the structural components and the elements of textbooks as well as analyzed their opportunities to focus on the development of individual core competencies of students: geographic knowledge, skills, experience, creativity, emotional and value attitude to the environment and human activities in it as well as geographical view of the world.
