Abstract
The article covers the topical issues related to the modern requirements for geography textbooks (grade 9), according to the state of the education system and the socio-economic development of Ukraine, as well as finding out the positive aspects and issues that are related to the content of these textbooks, their correspondence to the cartographic sources. Nowadays the importance of geography textbooks for the 9th grade is increasing as they relay the socioeconomic component of educational content, direct the secondary schools pupils in the formation of their system and modern knowledge and ensure their application and practical orientation. The author of the article notifies that a significant problem of all textbooks under analysis is a relatively outdated static data that leads to some complications for the pupils’ systematic perception of the training material and the implementation of an integrated approach to learning. Besides, the lack of typical tasks for the preparation for the State Final Attestation in geography (primarily various tests and simulators) remains to be problematic in the geography textbooks for the 9th grade. It is also advisable to pay more attention at the connection of the textbooks content with the work of the pupil on a contour map. The issues of the textbooks teaching aids correspondence to the ICT implementation at the geography lesson are considered separately. It is reported that in the current geography textbooks for the ninth grade, the methodological platform for the use of ICT is not developed enough. It provides some opportunities for the further research and the improvement of the textbooks teaching aids.
