Abstract

This article provides the historical and methodological analysis of Physics textbooks for the Ukrainian school in 1918–1920. The peculiarities of the structure, the content and the analytical tools of textbooks that were being created during the development of the Integrated School in Ukraine were demonstrated. Their didactic functions were analyzed. Much attention was paid to the designedsystems of alternative textbook on physics, aimed at the achievement of the major objectives of school physical education which were determined by the new curriculum. Thetextbook on Physics is considered as one of the tools for the formation of the pupils’ system of knowledge about physical phenomena that is logically complete, their skills to investigate independently and reflect. The experience of creating the national Physics textbook for the development of the common approaches to the problem of providing a high school academic book was generalized. The features of the introduction of the competitive selection of textbooks as an important factor of the development of the academic and methodological provision of the school physical education which was important for the further development of the theory and practice of physics textbook were defined. The impact of these processes on the formation of an integrated system of Physics textbooks in 1920–1930, the development of school physical education in Ukraine as well as their historical and methodological signifi cance in the context of solving the didactic problems of the creation of Physics textbooks for a modern secondary school under the conditions of the modernization of the school education content were specified.
