The generalized model of a textbook which demonstrates not only its inner structure but also defines the external elements and interrelations that are connected to the textbook is suggested. The features of the Astronomy textbook of the profession-oriented level as an open information system which is an important component of the informationeducational environment of the school astronomical education are specifi ed. The interrelationships with the other components of the textbook methodical system of the profession-oriented training of Astronomy in the high school are identified. Much attention is focused on the didactic features of a modern textbook which provide the students an opportunity to design a «one-moment» textbook in correspondence with their individual cognitive needs; such textbook is an educational product that satisfi es the educational requirements in the best way. Much attention is focused on the procedural component of the textbook, which must be present in all its elements and determine the nature as well as the learning process organization ensuring the widest variability and suitability for different models of textbook learning.
