Abstract
In article, the problem of the of forming foreign language lexical competence owing to elective course textbook «My France» is considered. The linguistics aspects of communicative competence are those that have to do with achievingan internalized functional knowledge of the elements and structures of the language. Based on the analysis of contemporary literature and specifi c features of foreign language learning the concept of lexical competence and lexical skills is investigated. Theoretical basis of lexical competence forming methods the lexical competence of students in the process of studying the elective course «My France» is defi ned. Examples of typical exercises of formation of foreign lexical competence of students in the process of professional training in high school are exemplifi ed. The lexical structure of the textbook elective course «My France» is characterized. We defi ne lexical competence as the ability to recognize and use words in a language in the way that speakers of the language use them. Lexical competence includes understanding the different relationships among families of words and the common collocations of words. The recommendations for the forming foreign language lexical competence owing to elective course textbook «My France» are described.
