Abstract

It is pointed out, that the independent work represents the highest form of the educational activity, carrying out by the students without direct guidance from the side of a teacher or guided to them mediated through the special educational materials. It is marked that in the transition of students from a course to the course a value and volumes of independent work increase, a creative component increases in its maintenance, there are changes in the use of textbook as the important means of this type of work’s organization. It is also determined that a textbook for the higher learning institution is a book where the educational material is system expounded for the students in the certain area of scientifi c knowledge in accordance with an on-line tutorial. At that the modern textbook fulfils in higher learning institution two basic roles: first one the source of the information exposing in an accessible for the students form the maintenance of the education within the framework of concrete scientist of object generator; the facilities of education, by means of that the organization of the educational process of future specialists are realized, including their independent educational work.
It is set that a textbook in an educational process executes such basic functions: informative, transforming, teaching, system and forming, fastening, integrating, coordinating, developing-educator, controlling, supervisory. The realization of these functions at the use of a textbook in the realization of different types of the students’ independent work has its own features. These features need to be taken into account in the process of this work’s organization. The basic tendencies were exposed in the development in China, the textbooks of a new type, assisting the increase of the independent work of students’ efficiency.
