Abstract

In the article, the modern requirements for the textbook on the history of Middle Ages were determined; the ways for the competence-based approach implementation in its content were found out; the educative and cognitive as well as the upbringing potential of this course was represented. One of the most important factors of a modern textbook is the presentation of the academic material from the aspect of contemporary mediavalism which combines scientifi c character and availability. In order to make the work of a teacher and his/her pupils on the formation of the corresponding competencies easier, the author has developed a system of tasks with various sources of knowledge. Textbook visualisation is not an ordinary illustration but an important historical source. For the purpose of making illustrative material academic one, it must supply historical one, be a barrier of the data that is necessary for a pupil, be qualitative, understandable, and appropriate. One of the important innovations in the history curriculum and the corresponding textbooks are practical lessons.
