Abstract
In the article, the content of the electronic textbook in literary reading (the 4th grade) in the aspect of the leading textbook functions realization, meeting the State requirements to the level of the comprehensive education of the primary school graduates in this subject was analyzed.
The advantages of the manuscripts in the context of their construction on the competence basis, the developmental teaching approach, the assurance of the process of teaching children by means of dialogues in the interactive mode, the preparation of pupils to learn the systematic literature course at the secondary school were defined. The problematic issues in the textbooks content were determined; their influence on the level of academic results of the fourth-grade schoolchildren in accordance with the main content lines of the basic curriculum was demonstrated.
