Abstract

The main types of graphics and their classifi cation are analyzed according to general function, way of making a structure and graphical method. It is shown that graphics are an effi cient form of representing the statistical data, teachers of geography are responsible for teaching students to use graphic method of information processing.Cognitive value of graphical method in analysis of statistical data is characterised. There are well-built schedules that can lure readers and attract the attention to the statistical data; they make the memorization easier and fasten the process of understanding the assence in the ratio of represented numbers. Graphicaly representing the statistical data, making their perception easier, graphics help to reveal the main tendencies, regularities in the development of investigated processes. Widespread use of graphics for popularization is defi nitely explained by it. Graphics in their expressive, accessible, concise and compact form let represent different statistical indicators visually, helping researcher to reveal their levels, ratio, changing tendencies, the composition and structure of complex totalities.
Cognitive value of statistical graphics is explained by their ability to represent the reality in a simple, clear and visual way. Charts in distinct, accessible, concise and compact form allows visually depict various statistical indicators to help the researcher to identify their level, ratio, changing trends, the composition and structure of complex populations. Informative value of statistical graphs due to their ability to refl ect reality in a simple, clear and visual way. Visual interpretation of objective statistical indicators to facilitate knowledge enables research subject, making it more intelligible.
