Abstract

The article reveals the problems of using a school textbook, lit his role in teaching. The analysis of theoretical sources detailing the specifi cs of the learning process in rural school, presents an analysis of practice for the design of textbooks for primary education. Proved the leading role of the school textbook as the primary vehicle for learning in traditional classrooms and classrooms with a low occupancy rate of students. Concentrated attention to the leading features of the textbook, which give the opportunity to successfully implement the tasks of the educational process in rural school. Focuses on the increasing role of school books in the period of transition to a competence paradigm of education, new content that deepens the signifi cance of the textbook, expands the variability of its functions in the conscious development of knowledge of the prescribed curriculum.
