Taking into consideration such peculiarities in the structure, the content, and the methodological apparatus of the textbooks will assure the conditions for the further development of the methodology of Geography teaching. Besides this, in the article, the aspects of the key competences formation by means of a textbook and the subject competences formation by means of the project-based teaching are studied. In the article, not only the theoretical aspects of these challenges as well as the practical examples of the methodological problems are provided.
