Abstract

In the article, the certain aspects of the challenges of creating textbooks that cover the usage of the competence-based approach in teaching Geography as well as the ways of its implementation by means of the structure and the content of the textbooks in Geography for the secondary and the high school are observed. The competence-based approach remains a signifi cant element of updating the Geography textbooks content. With the help of its usage, the secondary school pupils no only broaden their minds in the environment and the society and form their own geographic world view but also acquire a series of the important features that provide an opportunity to use the environmental funds, the social and economic sphere with the purpose of a successful personality development under the conditions of the globalized world. Taking into consideration such peculiarities in the structure, the content, and the methodological apparatus of the textbooks will assure the conditions for the further development of the methodology of Geography teaching. Besides this, in the article, the aspects of the key competences formation by means of a textbook and the subject competences formation by means of the project-based teaching are studied. In the article, not only the theoretical aspects of these challenges as well as the practical examples of the methodological problems are provided.
