Abstract

The role and place of e-textbooks in the learning process are examined, a typology is identifi ed, the functions of e-textbooks are investigated, and peculiar features, characteristics, and quality criteria of e-textbooks for schools in Poland are defi ned in the article. Main content, structure and functioning of e-textbooks should facilitate individualization of continuous education and meet the educational needs of teachers and students, who feel a need for interactive content that can be used anywhere and anytime. Polish scientists recognize that the introduction of different types and methods of distance learning into educational practice using the Internet, computer and educational portals that provide access to e-textbooks requires further theoretical and methodological study of the use of electronic textbooks at school.
