Abstract
The problem of obtaining holistic knowledge in the modern conditions of intensive information increase is considered. Modern researches of a pedagogical problem of integration of knowledge in the context of the competence-based approach are analyzed. The concepts of «synthesis», «systematization» and «integration of knowledge» are compared. The relationship between integrated knowledge and skills and competence is considered. In the course of the research it was revealed that in didactics the methodological knowledge was considered as the basis of knowledge integration. Currently, in the context of the competence-based approach, this problem is seen as the contribution of the subject to the formation of key competences. The problem of the formation of key competences has absorbed and transformed the study of the problems of synthesis, systematization and integration of knowledge and skills. The assumption is substantiated that the principle of integration of the content, technologies, forms and methods of teaching is the factor of systematization, ordering and integrity of knowledge. The functions of a textbook as a means of knowledge integration are considered. Measures are proposed to build the methodological apparatus of textbooks and teaching aids to be the content-procedural factor of knowledge integration. Their effectiveness in the process of teaching natural science subjects in general secondary educational institutions is studied. The article proves that the integration of knowledge and skills is a necessary condition for improving the quality of knowledge acquisition, their integrity and functionality as key competences and the basis of a holistic scientific worldview. It is possible to promote integration of knowledge by means of a textbook.
