TEXTBOOKS FOR GRADES 5–6 IN THE ASPECT OF FORMATION OF THE SCIENTIFIC PICTURE OF THE WORLD, THE IMAGE OF THE WORLD OF STUDENTS

Abstract

The article presents the results of a study by the staff of the Department of Integration of General Secondary Education of the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine on the ideas of students in grades 5–6 about the concept of the scientific picture of the world, the image of the world, their understanding of the holistic worldview and scientific thinking. Based on the results of the study, the authors reveal the need for educational and methodological support of the course “Environment” for grades 5–6, its role in shaping the concepts of natural science of the world as part of the scientific picture of the world; the image of the world as the main educational characteristic of the individual, as a starting point and the result of interaction with reality, a personally significant component of the scientific picture of the world; the need to use these concepts as a cross-­cutting basis for the integration of the educational material in curricula, textbooks of natural sciences and mathematics in grades 5–6 in integrity, an indicator of which is the subject of all its elements to the general laws of nature.
