Abstract
The article deals with the problem of using the Ukrainian language textbook as a means of forming the civic responsibility of the applicants of education. The essential characteristics of the notions of “civic responsibility”, “responsible citizen”, “citizenship” are revealed; the educational potential of the textbook is highlighted. It is noted that the innovation of the textbook is that it is aimed at forming, first and foremost, patriot citizens, who have a valuable attitude towards themselves, family, society, Ukraine, and the world; who understand and accept family, national and human values; the textbook is capable of ensuring the achievement of educational results — the key and subject competences, which involves the development of skills to apply the acquired knowledge, to form attitudes and behavioral norms on the basis of these components. It is substantiated that the most effective way to promote the formation of civic responsibility can be in the process of solving specially selected tasks, the continuity of forming the subject and key competences of pupils, thus creating the optimal conditions for the acquisition of democratic values, readiness for critical membership in the society, the formation of the own responsibility for the country’s fortune, people, understanding of the importance of participation in solving various social problems. There have been revealed the features of the realization of the cross-cutting line of the key competences “Civic Responsibility” on the basis of proper tasks and questions, which are the part of a comprehensive didactic system of the textbook aimed at achieving the final results, and develop the ability of the applicants of education to learn the realities of life in which this knowledge is important, analyze them, think critically, work in a team, find the right information to solve a specific task.
