Abstract

The article deals with the development of textbooks for the integrated Natural Sciences course. The concept of such a textbook should take into account the following conditions:
• the integrated course will be implemented for the first time;
• its scientific, educational, methodical and personnel support is absent;
• the course is intended for students of the 10–11 grades of social and humanitarian, artistic and sports classes;
• it replaces the study of separate subjects (physics, chemistry, biology, geography,
astronomy);
• the content filling and the requirements for its acquisition are based on the fact that students already have a basic natural science education.
Functions of a textbook of the integrated course are aimed at providing elementary understanding by high school students of the basic laws and regularities in nature, the principles of the work of technical devices which a modern person meets at every step; the formation of a holistic worldview, the ability to apply knowledge in the process of learning the world; the formation of value orientations on the preservation of nature, the harmonious interaction of man and nature.
The following approaches to the development of a textbook are suggested.
1. To structure the contents of the educational material and its methodical apparatus by
separate modules, the components of which are:
• introduction to the module of motivational character,
• definition of specific results of educational-cognitive activity before each section of the module, formation of a list of the minimum content units necessary for acquisition;
• completion of the module with a system of tasks to organize the educational and cognitive activity.
2. To place in the texts of a paragraph problematic situations, questions for research, auxiliary sections, including rubrics with QR-codes, which link to the electronic application to the textbook.
3. The system of tasks should contain tasks in a variety of forms and content. The content of the tasks should be focused around the situations students and their families encounter in their lives, in society and in the life of mankind as a whole. The research tasks are important, which envolve the ability to apply scientific approaches to acquiring reliable knowledge about the natural world, conducting observations or research in laboratory or natural conditions, processing and interpreting these data, modeling, predicting and verifying the authenticity of the findings.
