Abstract

The article deals with studying the problems of work of schools under the project "Cool School" which being implemented in Ukraine by Polish non-governmental organization "The Center for Civic Education." Socially-active school - SAS is an educational institution that is strategically focused on the development of civil society, an educational phenomenon for a head of a modern educational establishment. At the heart of SAS activity there is an introduction of the idea of socially-active school in domestic educational institutions; the aim is to create a common field of civic education of pupils, involving all the resources of the local community, based on the principles of a partnership, involving civil society organizations, teachers, students and parents into school life and their participation in community life. In socially-active school much attention is given to: educational, social, recreational services; improving the quality of students' training; strengthening families and relations between students, parents and residents of the community; transformation schools into educational and cultural centers. The introduction of a model of socially-active school management provides activation and development of civic education of the population, causesg further development of Ukrainian society by humanizing the social and economic relations and formation of new features of a person as a citizen of the country as well as the member of a local community. The experience of socially-active schools management is being accumulating in the educational institutions of Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions. The problems of socially-active school and the ways of their solution must become the basis of the textbook for the heads of modern educational institutions on socially-active schools management.
