Abstract

At the beginning of the article there is a general acquaintance with the problem of book publishing in Ukraine of educational literature for people with profound visual impairments, and in particular for applicants for higher education.
The comparative analysis of Braille Cyrillic alphabets in old prints made in the article aims to:
1) to partially convey the spirit and spelling of the historical epoch to the times of the Russian spelling reform of 1918;
2) to make an attempt at a comparative analysis and reconstruction of the symbols of ancient alphabets in order to study the relief-dot Braille system at ancient historical stages to ensure the possibility of organizing the alphabet of the Old Slavonic language and to create and publish modern textbooks in ancient languages in an embossed font. Braille, to meet the needs of students with profound visual impairments, as well as to restore and reproduce monuments that can work with blind scientists (historians, linguists, theologians, typhologists, etc.). The main problem in the study of professionally important historical language disciplines and ancient languages is that people with profound visual impairments cannot study them by ear alone. This applies in particular to the Old Slavonic language, the course of historical grammar, the ancient Greek language, etc. The most effective is the perception of these students of texts and vocabulary of the ancient language on a concrete-sensory basis, ie by touch, on the basis of reading books printed in the relief-dotted font by L. Braille. However, books on the Old Slavonic language do not exist due to the disorder of the alphabet of the Old Slavonic language according to the system of L. Braille. Arranging the alphabet of the Old Slavonic language according to the relief-dot system of L. Braille will ensure the possibility of proper adaptation and publication in Braille of the necessary educational and methodical literature, in particular the textbook on the Old Slavonic language for higher education institutions and other teaching materials for students (dictionaries, reference books, collections of monuments, practical tasks for students), etc. Textbooks and manuals adapted and published in Braille will make the education of blind students in Ukraine more accessible and of better quality, on a par with other students of higher education institutions (HEIs) who do not have visual impairments.
