Abstract
In the article, the results of the research on the professional orientation of the schoolchildren were demonstrated. It was defi ned that in every society, the economical need in the unpopular professions is present; however, this problem is undervalued by the state. Besides this, it is necessary to take into consideration that the youth who studies at school does not want to choose the unpopular professions a priori. One of the ways to overcome this inconformity between the social needs and the youth’s desire can be considered to be the fact that the professional orientation at the unpopular professions was defined as an important state task in the period of Soviet Union; however, such approach cannot be implemented in the market economy. Therefore, it can be notified that a teacher of labour training had to solve the problem of the pupils’ professional orientation at the in prestigious professions independently, and nowadays a teacher does not have an effective means to orient the schoolchildren at them.
