Abstract
In the article, the problem of the usage of texts of different genres and styles as a central didactic unit in the process of creating textbooks for the schools of the I concentre where the languages of national minorities are the teaching ones is observed. It is proved that the text-centered approach and a text as a communicative unity give an opportunity to develop all kinds of speech: listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing as well as to demonstrate the functioning of all speech units in an oral and in a written form.
