Abstract

The article substantiates the necessity of forming the subject geographical competence of pupils on the basis of psycho-didactic principles, analyzes the cognitive processes that influence the organization of educational and cognitive activity of pupils in the process of competence study of geography, in particular such as: sensation, perception, thinking, attention, memory, speech, imagination. It is investigated how they influence the activity of pupils’ educational and cognitive activity. Recommendations for considering such influence during the design of competency-forming lessons of geography are given. In particular, it is determined that in the process of designing educational and cognitive activities aimed at forming the subject geographical competence of pupils at the lesson of geography and in extra-curricular time the teacher must know and understand: 1) the need to form all the structural components of competence; 2) take into account the peculiarities of the influence of cognitive processes on the educational and cognitive characteristics of pupils. It is proved that the level of professionalism of a teacher of geography is largely determined by his/her ability to implement all the elements of the competence approach to education and create conditions for the flow of educational and cognitive activity of pupils on the psychodidactic basis of the formation of subject geographical competence.
