COMPETENCE POTENTIAL OF A BIOLOGY TEXTBOOK

Abstract

The possibilities of the author’s biology textbook for ninth grade students implementation for the realization of a competence potential of the discipline are described. Also, the educationalmethodical aspects of the textbook content are given, which ensure the formation of key competencies.These aspects are: communication in foreign languages, mathematical competence, information and digital competence, the ability for lifelong learning, initiative and enterprise, social and civic competence. The author characterizes the features of the formation of these competencies on educational material such as chemical composition, structure, and principles of cell functioning; carrying and realization of genetic information, patterns of the features of inheritance; evolution and biodiversity of the organic world; population, ecosystem, biosphere; the role of biology in biotechnology and medicine.The article describes general practicability and presents examples of practice-oriented texts, complex problems, and tasks.The variants of these tasks are presented. Moreover, their fulfillment presupposes the inclusion of students in personally important activities.
