Abstract

The article considers the problems of developing the conceptual foundations of educational literature for general secondary education within the framework of the competence approach. The necessity of designing the educational literature based on the competence approach is grounded. Pedagogical functions of a textbook in competence teaching are defined. It is shown that a textbook contributes to the formation and development of key and meta-subject competencies of students, the methodological provision of a textbook should promote the active formation of competencies by including cases, practice-oriented tasks, and tests in it.
