Abstract

This article reviews modern ukrainian language textbooks. Outlined their shortcomings and positive traits. Analysis of textbooks is submitted from the standpoint of student, teacher and researcher. In the article it appears what students like in current classbooks and what they are not satisfied with. It is described how students see perfect modern Ukrainian language textbook. Teachers express their opinion about textbooks, give suggestions on improving the primary means of learning. The article deals with modern scientific approaches to creating competence oriented textbooks of Ukrainian language, reveals their function, principles of design. Author determined basic requirements for the content, structure and decoration of the textbook as an effective learning tool. The main ways of improving the Ukrainian language textbook are defined. The article proves expediency of considering not only offers of teachers and researchers but students'. The necessity to attract new technologies to create a new generation of textbooks is formulated.
