Abstract
The important component of methodological scholarlike apparatus of the modern history textbook are rubrics and exercises which accompany the text and out-of-text components in structure of the book. Such rubrics are varied in content and purpose. Under the conditions of implementation the competence approach into teaching and learning process these rubrics together with the function of active learning activities of students organizing and learning outcomes control and correction should transform into a tool for the formation of the historical subject competency of students. Given the variety and multifunctionness of this constituent of textbook scholarlike apparatus, these rubrics and exercises must be incorporated in the special system that will allow to teacher and students make optimal use of their didactic potential.
