Abstract
In the article the peculiarities of the content, structure and functions of the competence-oriented textbooks for primary school. The main parameters that characterize its activity-competence orientation are systematized. The modern textbook is positioned in the first place, as the main means of learning, which is the basis of forming key and subject competences. Its functions and structure shall enable the organization of active cognitive activity of students, to attract them to learning in an educational information environment using new technologies. All the knowledge in the textbook should be disclosed in accordance with the modern level of development of science, technology and culture at a level that clearly takes into account the age abilities of students included in the curriculum, focus on practical results, the formation of personal experience in learning and development General learning ability. It is positioned primarily as a basis for forming the skills of self-education, tool organization of active cognitive activity of students, the means of demonstrating the use of new technologies that motivate students to update knowledge in accordance with their needs. The basis of the requirements of conformity of the text of psychological and age peculiarities of the pupils are logical-psychological features of the students understanding of the texts. Important to the way of presentation of educational information, in which the emphasis is placed on the procedural nature of its perception and assimilation. Quality textbook should have a useful selection of study material, the best methods of its presentation, organization of various types of learning activities of students aimed at the development of cognitive interests and the promotion of universal learning outcomes and educational competencies.
